Workshop - Creating Meaningful Moments on Stage

CREATING MEANINGFUL MOMENTS ON STAGE with Parallelogramophonograph

[Sorry, this workshop is now full. No more registrations will be accepted.]

Great theatre is made up of great moments. We don’t have the luxury of re-writes and planning in improv, but that doesn’t mean we can’t treat each moment on stage with importance and weight.

What you will learn:

* Slow down and read your scene partners
* Be comfortable with silence on stage
* Recognize the power of seeing characters change on stage
* Fulfill the promises your scene choices make to the audience
* Better commit to, and “stick”, your choices on stage

This workshop is intended for actors and improvisers who have a basic understanding of improv, but want to add depth to their scenework, or just want to be more comfortable doing scenes. You will learn new techniques for making your scene choices stronger, and put the techniques to use in a series of directed and un-directed scenes.

About the instructors:

Kareem Badr, Kaci Beeler, Valerie Ward and Roy Janik are members of the award-winning troupe Parallelogramophonograph. They perform, teach, and coach at various theaters in Austin, Texas and have an endless devotion to improvisational theatre.

What students have said:

“Roy and Kareem make the classroom setting so enjoyable that you almost don’t realize you’re learning, and suddenly after 2 hours you are a better improvisor.”

“Everyone really enjoyed the sessions we had, we felt supported, encouraged and challenged all at the same time.”

“Working with Roy and Kaci is a love fest. I have never had so much fun improvising in my life and may never have as much fun again.”
